Our 6-piece Essentials band is where it all began—an effortlessly entertaining show-band that vibrantly sets the tone for an unforgettable evening. Enhanced by sing-along favorites and a carefully selected dinner repertoire, our Essentials Band creates the perfect soundtrack from dinner to dancing.

We are known for bringing an energy that’s unmatched, creating a show that’s as engaging as it is memorable.
Throughout the night, we will join your friends and family on the dancefloor, instruments, tambourines and microphones in hand, ensuring we add personal touches that make every performance truly one-of-a-kind.

What makes our shows so popular?
1. A tailored experience

There’s no question that live music creates an atmosphere a DJ simply can never replicate. Whether it’s the pure energy of a full band or the electric interaction of a saxophone on the dance floor, nothing compares to the experience of live musicians.
​
That said, DJs do have one key advantage—flexibility. They can read the crowd in real time, switching up genres and styles on the fly to keep the energy high. And let’s be honest, the music should always match the vibe of your guests.
​
Most bands, however, stick to a fixed, pre-written setlist, which can sometimes include songs that kill the momentum. That’s where we’re different. Our shows are fully dynamic, and we make split decisions as to which songs to play next according to what you and your guests are vibing.
​
Each of our musicians uses in-ear monitoring, allowing our Bandleader (usually the drummer) to make real-time adjustments throughout the night by speaking into a secret mic. This means we can shape our performance to perfectly fit your crowd, moment by moment.
Loving the classics more than the modern hits? We’ll adjust our set to keep everyone singing and dancing.
Bride and groom getting a shoulder ride on the dance floor? Our bandleader will cue the light technician to spotlight you both for an unforgettable moment.

2. Dynamic light show

We pride ourselves on looking as good as we sound. Sharp outfits that match your dress code are of course on the list, but just as importantly our lighting needs to enhance and excite your guests' experience.
​
Most bands have basic coloured lights that flash repetitively to the beat (totally fine if you're at a karaoke bar), but on the biggest day of your life you want it to look epic.
​
Our light show is colour coordinated to your decor during dinner, with soft colour washes over the stage that will complement your table and floral settings.
​
Later in the night, a dedicated light technician will change the lights throughout each song to match the show. Moving spotlights are used to show off our musicians when they solo, and to highlight the bride and groom at key moments such as your bouquet toss or when you’re lifted up on shoulders in the middle of the dance floor!
We will control the lights from a bright stage white-wash during a sing along one minute, to blue light throwback the next, then festival-style mosh pit strobe lights at the peak of our show to wrap up the night on a pumping high! The lighting experience is as wide as the music we play, which all seamlessly fits together.

3. Sound Technician
​
Our bands have the best sound systems available, ready to bring a pumping festival worthy vibe to your wedding. But all that equipment is of no use without someone to make sure it sounds fantastic.
​
We have a dedicated sound technician who will manage the sound levels throughout the event, keeping the music at a comfortable volume over dinner, then pumping it up later in the night.
​
Worried people can't hear your speeches? We have someone monitoring them all night so even your quietest family members can be heard clearly.
The Essentials Band is currently located in Victoria.
